Microsoft 365 SharePoint Online backup

VaultFuzion backs up SharePoint Online sites agentlessly through the Microsoft Graph API — document libraries and their files with version history, and SharePoint lists with their items — and restores at item, library or site level, point-in-time, into storage you own.

What gets captured

Document libraries

Files across the site’s libraries, with the folder structure and version history where Microsoft Graph exposes it.

SharePoint lists

Lists and their items, captured as structured data — the workload most backups skip because a list needs a restore path a file flow does not provide.

Across selected sites

The sites you choose, captured on a schedule from one multi-tenant console — no per-site agent.

How restore works

Restore the grain the incident calls for: one document or list item, a whole library, or a whole site. Side-by-side recovers into a separate location and leaves the live site untouched — the safe default. In-place returns content where it was. Exact-state reverts a library or site to a chosen point in time — the mode for undoing a bad bulk edit or a ransomware pass that rewrote a library.

The honest part

A backup protects the content of a site — files, versions and list data. Site chrome and some page or web-part customizations are configuration, not content; keep a record of structural customizations separately and treat the backup as the guarantee for the data. The two-stage SharePoint Recycle Bin is a time-boxed net, not a copy you own, and point-in-time granularity is bounded by your backup frequency.

Frequently asked questions

What does VaultFuzion back up in SharePoint Online?

Site content: document libraries and the files in them (with version history where Microsoft exposes it), and SharePoint lists with their items. Capture is agentless through the Microsoft Graph API, across the sites you select, from one multi-tenant console.

Can I restore a single document or list item?

Yes. Restore at item level — one document, one list item — a whole library, or a whole site, from any point in time you captured. You are not forced to roll back an entire site to recover one file.

Does it back up SharePoint lists, not just document libraries?

Yes. Lists and their items are captured as structured data, which is the part many backups skip because a list is not a file and needs a different restore path.

What about site look-and-feel, web parts and permissions?

The content — files, versions and list data — is what is backed up and restored. Site chrome and some page/web-part customizations are configuration rather than content; treat the backup as protecting the data in the site, and keep a record of structural customizations separately.

Isn’t the SharePoint Recycle Bin enough?

The two-stage Recycle Bin is a short, time-boxed safety net that empties on a schedule — it is not an independent copy and does not survive a site deletion or a tenant-level problem. A backup in storage you own does.

Where is the backup stored?

In your own S3-compatible bucket (bring-your-own-storage): you choose the region and own the data and egress. Direct customers can use a bucket VaultFuzion provides, billed at cost.
